Community Services

Community service is important to us at Massage Ingenuity.  We believe in giving back as often as is possible and do so by supporting various fundraisers within Holly Springs and the surrounding communities.  If there is a fundraiser you are helping with, feel free to reach out to us to see if we might be able to help.

Also, the founder of Massage Ingenuity, Amanda Lunn’s, youngest daughter was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma, a cancer within her eyes, at the age of 23 months.  As such, she has seen a need for further support towards childhood cancer research and those affected by cancer.  Only 4% of national funding by the National Cancer Institute goes towards pediatric cancer research.

Therefore, throughout the year, we hold specials to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation as well as Alex’s Lemonade Stand.  These two organizations give the most money possible towards actual research and finding new treatments and hopefully cures.  Amanda’s family has also been blessed to stay at the Ronald McDonald House during her daughter’s treatments.  Every year, we hold a toy, gift card and food drive to support the Ronald McDonald House to share smiles with those children and their family members who may not be able to make it home for the holidays.  We have personally seen how huge the effect of a simple gift is to a child fighting cancer as well as the breadth of hope it brings the family to see a sense of normalcy and that somebody actually cares.  We thank you for your support as we would not be able to do all of this without you! Thank you for allowing us to spread light and positivity both near and far!

Since 1974, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) has created programs that strengthen families during difficult times. RMHC provides vital resources and compassionate care to children and their families being served by leading hospitals worldwide. Core RMHC programs — Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles — provide access to health care and enable family-centered care globally.  RMHC has helped lessen the burden for more than 7 million families in 2015.

Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family.  And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support.  A Ronald McDonald House is that “home-away-from-home” for families.  Their Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.  They believe that when a child is hospitalized the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.  The Ronald McDonald House allows families to access specialized medical treatment by providing a place to stay at little or sometimes no cost.  Their Homes are filled with more than help, they’re filled with hope!

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. They coordinate their signature head-shaving events and other fundraisers, giving thousands of volunteers worldwide a chance to raise money to support lifesaving childhood cancer research. St. Baldrick’s events are the largest volunteer-powered fundraising opportunity benefitting pediatric cancer research.

When Alex, who was diagnosed with childhood cancer just before her first birthday, was four, she told her parents she wanted to set up a front-yard lemonade stand.  Her plan: to give the money to doctors to help them find a cure.  Her first “Alex’s Lemonade Stand”, held with the help of her older brother Patrick, raised an astonishing $2,000 in one day.  While bravely fighting her own cancer, Alex continued to set up lemonade stands every year.  As news spread of the remarkable girl so dedicated to helping other sick children, people everywhere were inspired to start their own lemonade stands—donating the proceeds to her cause.

In 2004 when Alex passed away at the age of eight—her stand and inspiration had raised more than $1 million towards finding a cure for the disease that took her life.  Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was started by her parents in 2005 to continue the work that Alex began. Their mission is simple: to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily for research into new treatments and cures, and to encourage and empower others, especially children, to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer.
